Most tourists using Cairns Airport (CNS) will be heading for the Great Barrier Reef and using the city as their base for seeing the beautiful north coast of Queensland in Australia. The airport mainly accommodates domestic flights but does serve a small number of international destinations.
Cairns Airport is split into two terminals, one for domestic flights and the other for international destinations, which are connected by a 200m long walkway. Each has a range of shopping and dining options and the airport operates a policy that ensures outlets provide prices that are comparable with those in the city.
The terminals are well laid out with good facilities on both the land-side and the departures side of each. Dining options at the airport feature several cuisines, gourmet sandwiches and standard coffee shop fare. Shopping outlets provide convenience items in addition to a selection of designer goods. Duty-free goods are available in the International Terminal.
Car rental at Cairns Airport is available from both terminals with rental offices being conveniently located in the Arrivals hall. There is a dedicated parking area for those using car hire at Cairns Airport and this is located in the Domestic Terminal car park.
The airport is only seven kilometres from the centre of the city and cheap car hire at Cairns Airport will not only get you to your hotel but also help you to get the most out of a visit to the region. It also provides the easiest way of getting to the many coastal resorts located to the north and south of the city.
