Dover is famous for its white cliffs,
while Hastings and Battle,
in Sussex, is where William the Conquer laid claim to England.
Poole and Bournemouth
are two of the South coast’s loveliest summer spots,
Brighton is more bohemian. Pious Canterbury,
is seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury. The lovely New
Forest, is steeped in King Arthur legend. Dorset
and Devon are picturesque while

Bath is stately and popular with its orderly terraced
houses and Roman baths.
Cardiff, gateway to Wales,
is dominated by its 900-year-old Castle. In summer, the
Pembrokeshire coastal towns, and Brecon Beacons are popular
among vacationing Brits.
Manchester is truly an English city, with
an industrial revolution legacy and unique atmosphere. Liverpool
is famously home to the Beatles legend and a certain football
team. Attractions include the Merseyside Maritime
museum, the Tate Liverpool,
Beatles Story museum and Museum of Liverpool
Life.
York is historically important, a stronghold
for Romans, Saxons and Vikings over the centuries. The Lake
Districts inspired Wordsworth with its pretty lakes,
green hills and pleasant walking.
Medieval Edinburgh’s centerpiece
is its dramatically-located 1200-year old castle - possibly
the UK’s most romantic city, while working-class Glasgow
is truly Scottish in character..
The British are typically polite, helpful, occasionally
eccentric but extremely well organized to cope with 25 million
visitors a year. London boasts an astonishing array of restaurants
and cuisine options, delightful pubs, theatres and clubs.
There are numerous B&Bs in the lovely countryside,
and the network of roads is extensive but traveling by train
is sometime more convenient and quicker if big cities are
on your itinerary. Although not cheap, Britain has so much
to offer tourists and leaves a definite impression on all
who visit.
London is one of the world’s busiest air hubs, with
two long-haul airports, as well as the Eurostar rail to
Paris. Regional airports are found at Manchester, Edinburgh
and Glasgow. Several ferries run daily to continental countries.
