Sophisticated, stylish, rural, delicious, charming, historic… there are so many reasons to visit Italy.

Just some of the many must-sees in Rome include the 2000-year old excavations of the Forum and Palatino, the Colosseum and the Pantheon - all legends from heyday of the Roman empire. Also popular are the the Trevi fountain incredibly ornate interior of the Vatican with its St Peter’s Duomo and Sistine Chapel, and Castel Sant' Angelo. Out of town is the evergreen and ancient Tivoli gardens.

The culture and grace of Renaissance Florence is overwhelming, especially the remarkable Duomo, Baptistry, Uffizi Gallery, and the Ponte Vecchio. The legend of Renaissance artists such as da Vinci and Michaelangelo is best seen here among the many fanatastic museums. The Tuscan countryside is popular and full of villas, and nearby Pisa is famous for its leaning tower.

Venice is unique with its endless canals best explored on foot. The centerpiece is the unforgettable Piazza San Marco, with it’s campanile, Doges' Palace and St Mark's Basilica, Day trips to Lido, Murano, Burano and Torcellini are a popular escape.

Milan is the fashion, cuisine, and opera centre of Italy, with first class shopping guaranteed to hurt the credit card. The Alps and beautiful valleys around Lake Maggiore are spectacular, while the Dolomiti are popular for skiing. Trieste is an interesting, romantic city, also in the north.

Naples’ charismatic narrow streets noisy street markets and ancient churches make it popular, especially it’s 800 year old Duomo, Chiesa dei Girolamini (cathedral), Teatro San Carlo. The beautiful Bay of Naples, is overshadowed by Mt Vesuvius, close by is the fascinating excavated ruins of Pompeii. The Amalfi Coast stretches along a promontory from Sorrento to Salerno and is some of Europe's most beautiful coastline.

Italians have delightful character and an undeniable love of life, making their culture and country so appealling. Famous for their pastas and pizza, Italians value dining and their wine is excellent. The tourist infrastructure is excellent and accommodation plentiful and affordable.

Rome and Milan are major air hubs reachable from all over the world, while many other cities are serviced from all over Europe. Car travel is popular, efficient and safe, while trains and buses arrive regularly from all over Europe, as well as ferries. High speed trains are a convenient means to traverse the ‘booted leg’.
